I won’t go into too much detail, but let’s just say this could be considered a grey market or parallel import in Western Australia. Sort of feels a bit naughty to drink it.
As per usual with Viognier, don’t serve it too cold. You can expect aromas of honey, pastis, musk and just a sidenote of apricot and ginger. Not a big Viognier on the palate. It’s a bit dilute, which actually works in the wine’s favour. Some gravelly, white stone minerality is evident, and takes forefront over fruit characters. I love that honey character that you can see in Chablis, Vouvray and other French whites, but very rarely in New World wines.
At 13.5%, the alcohol is balanced, but I tried to drink this with Indian food and it was a complete failure. Seems intended to be consumed outside on a warm summer night. Cheap too.
